How Does Smartskin Work?

This procedure works by stimulating the body’s restorative processes using heat derived from laser energy, the skin is triggered to rebuild collagen and remodel. Fractionated laser technology is partially ablative, which means that a small portion of the skin is ablated, paving the way for more healthy youthful looking skin to grow. Smartskin is super versatile, and can treat hard to reach areas, like the skin over the eyelids, ears, side of the nose, face, neck, chest or hands.

Dr. Gould will work closely with you to determine your needs and expectations, and come up with a treatment plan that is just right for you. After consultation and planning, a date will be set for your procedure. You will be given topical anesthetic and/or prescription pain medication to apply prior to your appointment, and after arrival, another layer of anesthetic is applied. The SmartSkin procedure itself is relatively quick, and afterwards cool packs and protective ointment are applied. Depending on the degree of laser energy you and Dr Gould have decided upon, you may have anywhere from 1-7 days of downtime (redness, swelling,sunburned sensation). Within a few days, you will see a refreshed, more youthful and improved version of yourself emerge and you will be very glad that you did it!
