How does diVa® work?
diVa® Laser Vaginal Therapy works by using hybrid fractional laser technology. This is two lasers working simultaneously to resurface the vaginal canal. This helps to increase the thickness of the vaginal lining while rebuilding your collagen structures. It works deep in the vaginal wall to increase support and healthier functioning. It can also help improve your vaginal laxity caused by childbirth, menopause, or other issues. It can also help treat minor cases of urinary stress incontinence due to working to improve the support of the vagina, urethra, and bladder.
What types of conditions does diVa® treat?
There are many conditions this procedure treats. They include:
- Vaginal laxity
- Vaginal atrophy
- Painful sex
- Loss of sexual sensation
- Urinary incontinence
Which patients may benefit from diVa® laser?
diVa® therapy can benefit women of any age who are looking to improve their vaginal function following childbirth, during or after menopause, or even after chemotherapy. It’s non-hormonal and non-surgical, making it ideal for women who are sensitive to therapy or have a history of vaginal health issues due to childbirth, menopause, breast cancer, or hysterectomy. It can work to improve bladder control while strengthening the pelvic floor and alleviating vaginal dryness.
How many treatments are recommended for diVa®?
For diVa® to be optimal and effective, most patients require three treatments over the course of several months. This creates an environment for new tissue growth and vaginal health improvement. However, even one treatment will increase results. Every woman’s body is different. We’ll conduct an assessment and help you plan a treatment that works for you.
How is diVa® different from other laser vaginal therapies?
diVa® is different than other laser therapies as it allows for precise customization of your procedure due to your needs, age, symptoms, shape and size of your vagina, and level of atrophy you are experiencing. While other lasers only improve the top layer of tissue, diVa® therapy works on the top layer as well as deeper into the collagen layer. This promotes healthy vaginal tissue growth while increasing the elasticity and strength of the tissue. The diVa® laser also works with a disposable dilator, making it the most hygienic treatment as there is zero chance of cross-contamination.
Finally, the laser remains stationary throughout the process, ensuring precision and accuracy as opposed to other manually-turned lasers during treatment. diVa® is fully automated, resulting in the most precise laser treatment of the vaginal tissue possible.
How long do diVa® treatments last?
Most patients see improvements for several months after treatment until it reaches full effect. New tissue will eventually age, but because diVa® is a non-surgical and non-ablative treatment, you can maintain your results with repeated treatments. We’ll help you tailor your treatment plan unique to you.
Is diVa® treatment painful?
diVa® treatment is non-surgical. As such, there are effective results with little to no pain. Most women who undergo diVa® treatment report a slight warm feeling but nothing painful. We apply a topical numbing cream prior to the procedure to reduce discomfort. No sedation or general anesthesia is needed.
What can I expect during the procedure?
We customize diVa® laser therapy to your needs. The treatment only takes a few minutes to treat the entire vaginal canal. We conduct it in the comfort of our office. Some women report feeling a slight pressure on the vaginal walls or a warming sensation, but few report any pain or discomfort.
How long does a diVa® procedure take?
Each diVa® application only takes about three to five minutes. This allows enough time for the dual laser technology to treat the surface layers and tissues along the vaginal canal effectively. Most of our patients visit us during their lunch break or while running errands and are free to resume daily activity immediately as there is no downtime or recovery time.
