What is Profound?

A special Profound device uses radio frequencies that help to tighten the skin, making the procedure incredibly effective for wrinkles and sagging parts of your face including the jaw, upper lip, and more. The Profound device stimulates the skin and helps to encourage the reproduction of new collagen and elastin, allowing your skin to be tighter and create more volume.

How Does Profound Skin Tightening Work?

This minimally-invasive treatment involves numbing the treatment area skin and then using microneedles to safely and quickly deliver radiofrequency (heat energy) below the (chilled) skin’s surface. The microneedles deliver fractionated thermal injuries in the deep reticular dermis where the concentration of collagen is highest. Thermal injury to treated areas stimulates wound healing, dermal remodeling, and new elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid formation, resulting in visible skin improvement.

How Is It Different Than A Facelift?

Because it is non-surgical, Profound does not provide the same level of lift and tightening as a facelift. While it can help with sagging and wrinkling skin, more intense cases of these conditions are not going to be fixed with ProFound, as it is a better skin-tightening treatment for more mild conditions.

What Does the Treatment Feel Like?

When Profound treatments are done, a local anesthetic is used so that our patients feel little discomfort during the procedure. After the procedure, some swelling and redness are normal for 3-7 days, and some shedding of the skin can occur as well.

Can Profound Be Combined With Other Treatments?

Profound is totally compatible with other treatments. Dr. Gould routinely combines Profound with Smartskin. She has fine-tuned this combination of treatments to get the best results and healing scenarios for her patients.

Who is a Good Candidate for Profound?

How Long Does Treatment Take?

Profound is a quick, single treatment performed in approximately 45 minutes.

What is the Recovery Time for Profound?

Following treatment you can expect 3-7 days of swelling and redness as well as bruising. In addition, there is an appearance of tiny dotted marks on the treated area and up to a week of some minor shedding of the skin.
